Hired to come to Madison to help erect the Capitol Building. The rainy journey took ten days over roadless prairie. Near Madison the sun broke through the clouds; Clark named the spot Sun Prairie

Acting mayor in 1860

Helped build Grace Episcopal Church

Helped select & name Forest Hill, served many years on the Forest Hill Committee
