  • Madison's 8th and last village president in 1855
  • He operated the Madison Hotel, which was the original Peck boarding house, in the 1840s
  • He built the first Congregational Church in 1846
  • Built a stone business block in 1856 at 120-128 South Pinckney Street (later called the Burrows Block). The two upper stories were converted into the first theater in Madison; the first entertainer there was General Tom Thumb
