The house was built for Orsamus Hymeneus and Julia Cole in 1857. They lived here until her death in 1874.
Interred at Forest Hill Cemetery
George Burrows bought the house from Cole and lived here until at least 1907. Burrows left his land on Lake Mendota to the MPPDA. It is now Burrows Park.
