  • 1892 Owen bought fourteen acres of wooded land with a commanding height near Calvery Cemetery (now Resurrection Cemetery). The land was donated to the city for a pleasure drive, Owen Parkway, dedicated to the memory of his daughters, Ethel and Cornelia, both of whom died during a diphtheria epidemic in 1890

    One simply is inscribed "Owen Drive"
    The other
    "For Ethel and Nell
    To the City They Loved
    From Their Father and Mother"
