Fairchild House

302 S. Wisconsin Ave. (Later Monona Avenue & now Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.)     Built Ca. 1850

The site is currently occupied by the "Old State Office Building"

Built around 1850, later substantially altered with additions.

Built by Jairus Fairchild, Madison's first mayor, and Fairchild Street's namesake.

Later the home of his son, General Lucius Fairchild, Governor of Wisconsin 1866-1872. During his term the House served as the state's executive residence, as no such property was then owned by the state.
